Who We Are & What We Do

What Is The Water Workforce Coalition?

The Lake Erie West Water Workforce Coalition is a partnership of organizations dedicated to strengthening the water and wastewater workforce. It focuses on increasing awareness of career opportunities and supporting fast, affordable, hands-on training that prepares people to enter the field.

Our Approach

We collectively plan to develop and strengthen the region’s water treatment utility workforce through:

  • Increasing awareness of and enthusiasm for drinking water and waste water career paths

  • Creating more learning opportunities, curriculum, and instructors (faculty and current experienced employees) for those entering the drinking water utility workforce

  • Building a pipeline to connect workers to employers for water sector careers.

  • Being a comprehensive resource for information on water sector careers and strengthen collaborative efforts to meet changing needs.

Meeting the Needs of Utilities

To address the need for more operators, the Lake Erie West Water Workforce Coalition created a new program to recruit, train, and employ the next generation of water and wastewater professionals—helping close a critical workforce gap in northwest Ohio.
